My entry for the 3rd Project Heartbeat Charting Competition.
I was set on charting a 9Lana song before the theme was announced. KYUBI probably would've been easier to turn into an interesting chart, but since the theme was "recent songs" I figured her latest song was the most appropriate.
I was disappointed with how difficult it was to turn the start of the chorus into something interesting. There's really not much freedom when the rhythm is so inconsistent… at least not in a way that's readable.
It's charted almost entirely in double time starting from the first chorus. For anyone who finds this on Google trying to figure out how to chart the BPM for DYNA MIND in another game, the entire song is 116 BPM except for one single measure for the lyrics "This is my job", which drops to 106 BPM. The producer Tana.H actually tweeted this out; presumably a lot of people were struggling with it.
I was going to nerf the hard section in the middle, but the section requires similar skills to DIVA's Paradichlorobenzene on Extreme, but Paradicholorobenzene is slightly faster (16ths at 132 vs 8ths at 232), and after a bit of practice I was able to perfect it, so I think it's fine. Even though most of the chart is a high 8.5★ to low 9★, I bumped it up a bit because of how hard that section is. Plus, what good is a chart with no replayability?
